Installing AWStats in Windows

I have just completed moving our company's websites locally and I am setting up AWStats to track the websites' statistics.  It is a very good free software and I introduced this application to a client where I previously worked and they used it to track the traffic going to their website and used the data to get people to advertise on their site.

In order to run this on a Windows server, you have to install ActivePerl.  AWStats is written in Perl.  The log files that you want to use in AWStats will have to be compliant to the format it requires.  You can change what you want to log through the IIS snap-in.  Details are found in the installation guide on the AWStats website.

While googling, I came across an installation document provided by Ihsen Consulting which I found useful.  You can download the document from http://www.ihsen.com/support/InstallingAWStatsOnIIS6.pdf

UClue

Remember the days when Google Answer was the site you would go to if you had a question and you can pay the Google freelance researchers to research your question and provide you and answer and if you are satisfied, you pay for their service?  That's been closed for some time now but I read that UClue provides similar service as Google Answer and the freelance researchers from GA have now moved to UClue.

Win a million dollars with the Pixelotto idea

Alex Tew, the 21 year old student who created the million dollar page by selling to pay for his university fees has come up with another idea - he calls it pixelotto. He will be selling pixels as advertising space, this time for $2. He will keep the first million dollars andthe other million dollars will go to a randomly selected lucky winner who clicks on the pixel. Well good luck on pixelotto.

Has musicplasma.com been hijacked?

I haven't used the Macromedia Flash interface music search engine for some time now so I thought I will go to musicplasma.com and have a play around. I typed in www.musicplasma.com and it brings me to http://www.levillage.org/accueil.cbb. What has happened. Has some company hijacked the musicplasma.com domain? I liked the musicplasma.com user interface and I was thinking of using the concept in the personal media portal system that I am developing. What a shame I can't get to musicplasma.com now. Keyword search on Google: domain hijack;music search engine;media portal;

Google, no Booble

What? Booble? Yes, booble.com is the adult/porn search engine. On the booble website, it states that Booble.com is not affiliated with any other search engines (for starters, we have a sense of humor)!!! Here is Google's response to the Booble sense of humour: Google Slaps Booble Booble takes a poke at Google Google v Booble

Using the web to evangelise to the world

I read an interesting article in my church's monthly magazine about using the web to reach the world from home. It is interesting to read about creative evangelism, ie. using chat rooms as a means to communicate and speak about Christ to the world. Ewa Lundberg who calls herself "Rev Ewa" has seen more than 40 people from different parts of the world giving their lives to Jesus. A few years ago she had never been into a chat room but since she discovered chat rooms, she has used it as a tool to reach the lost and has counselled hundreds of people and many have received physical healing. "Rev Ewa" said in the article that she chat on a net to a doctor who lives in the US. His was unwell and his physical health was critical. He had a worn-out spine and needed a pacemaker. She spoke to the doctor about the power of God and asked if she could pray for him. "Rev Ewa" prayed and the doctor placed his hands on the computer screen. She prayed for Jesus to give the doctor a new spine and a new heart. And that was what Jesus did. The church later on went to visit the doctor and saw evidence of documentation showing that the healing had taken place. Here is a link about Ewa Lundgren. It is in Swedish. If you understand swedish, have a read. The full article is available in print but will very soon be available for you to read if you click on this link.
